For the 2nd year in a row, FIU’s Training and International Research Initiatives (TIRI) unit is hosting a group of 25 Mandela Washington Fellows who are a part of President Obama’s flagship Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program.
Through this initiative, Africa’s brightest young leaders in the business, civic, and public sectors spend six weeks in residence at U.S. colleges and universities to connect with Americans and deepen their knowledge of business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and public management. The Fellows also join together in Washington, D.C. for a Summit hosted by President Obama before returning to their home countries to continue their work. The emerging leaders hail from 49 countries across sub-Saharan Africa and have shown a commitment to improving their home countries and to establishing strong ties between Africa and the United States.
The Black Alumni Chapter alongside YPN Miami will be joining forces with FIU’s Training and International Research Initiatives to co-host a networking event on Monday, July 6th so that the Fellows can get the opportunity to meet young professionals in the South Florida Community.
Please join us for an evening of cultural networking.
