Movie Night Meet Up


The FIU Black Alumni Chapter will be joining The Woodson Institute, Urban Miami and YPN-Miami and so much more for a Move Meet-Up. So come out this Sunday, January 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at AMC Aventura 24 to watch the powerhouse film SELMA. After the film, for those who are interested will be having a “Dine & Discuss” at MOCA Cafe 738 NE 125th Street N. Miami, FL 33161.

A Woodson Representative will be at the ticket kiosk by 6:30PM, (look for a person wearing the “WI” logo)

We recommend you pay your tickets in advance.

Hello Golden Panthers!

March is Women’s History Month! and all over America, organizations are showing their appreciation for the work and advancement women have made to society. Florida International University’s Women Center is hosting their 6th Annual Women Who Lead conference featuring keynote speaker Donna Brazile on March 24-25th, 2014.   Her keynote address will cover topics such as leadership, professional development, and mentorship specifically for women. The event is $20 for alumni, for more information, click here

BOWL-A-THON with YPN Urabn League

Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 4-7pm

We need bowlers! The Black Alumni Chapter is bowling for a cause! We need teams made up of 5 to bowl to raise money for the YPN Empowerment Scholarship fund! $20 a person, come as an individual and we will match you with a team or you can set-up your own team of 5 and email blackalumni.fiu@gmail.com

The Relay for Life – North Miami

The Black Alumni Chapter would like to put a team together for Relay for Life. If you are interested please contact Service Chair, Makissa Lewis – Makissa78@gmail.com or donate! Every dollar counts, donate to the Black Alumni Relay Team here. Each year the City of North Miami teams up with the American Cancer Society to host the Relay For Life.  More than four million people in over 20 countries raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay for Life movement. During the Relay, participants and survivors of cancer celebrate what they’ve overcome, remember people lost to the disease, and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.  The event will kick off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th at Griffing Park, located at 12220 Griffing Blvd.

is After School All-Star’s (ASAS) unique NBA season-long campaign that combines the excitement of pro-basketball with providing quality after-school programming to at-risk youth across the country. Each player commits to raising funds and awareness around the need for after-school programs for underprivileged youth. In addition to fundraising, each athlete spends meaningful time inspiring ASAS children.

CHH mentor must…

•Be college educated and over 21

•Enjoy playing basketball and able to work in a team/group environment

•Be committed to developing a mentoring relationship with a camper

•Be available to attend at least three evening sessions from 6:30-9:30pm (Tuesday, March 26, Wednesday, March 27, Thursday, March 28, Friday, March 29)

Black Alumni Chapter takes over Sing Sing Karaoke!  It is Miami’s newest karaoke lounge and bar with seventeen karaoke rooms and bar karaoke! Their all-ages karaoke rooms are decked out with flat screen TVs, comfy couches, cocktail tables, two mics, sound-activated party lights, and state-of-the-art remote control karaoke system.
